Before Install Day: A Quick Site-Prep Checklist

A little prep before the crew arrives makes for a faster, cleaner install. Here's how to get your yard ready.

A bit of prep before we arrive makes the whole install faster, cleaner and cheaper for you. None of it is hard — here's a quick checklist to get your yard ready for fence day.

Clear the fence line

The single most helpful thing. Move pots, toys, firewood, bins and garden beds back from where the fence goes. If there are shrubs or branches along the line, a trim saves us working around them and saves you paying for the time.

Sort access

  • Make sure we can get to the fence line — unlock side gates, and move cars off the driveway if we need it.
  • If access is only through the house or a neighbour's yard, tell us in advance so we can plan.

Give the dog a plan

With the fence coming down, your yard isn't secure for the day. Arrange somewhere for pets to stay so nothing gets out while we're working — this one catches people out.

Talk to the neighbour

If it's a shared boundary, give your neighbour a heads-up that work's happening. We may need brief access to their side to fix the fence, and a quick warning keeps everyone happy.

Mark what matters

Know where your private underground services run (irrigation, a line to a shed or pool pump)? Point them out. We lodge a Before You Dig enquiry and locate services, but you knowing about a private line helps us avoid it.

Leave the rest to us

Removing the old fence, disposal, set-out and clean-up are our job. Do the few things above and we'll be in and out faster, with a tidy handover at the end.

Anything you're unsure about before install day? Just ask — we'd rather sort it before we arrive.
