Will They Leave My Yard a Mess?

Old palings, concrete bags and dug-up lawn. Here's what a proper clean-up should look like when your new fence goes in.

A new fence should make your place look better. Not worse.

But some of the angriest reviews I read had nothing to do with the fence itself. They were about what was left behind. Old palings in a pile. Empty concrete bags. Soil tipped over the garden.

Why it matters

Your yard is where your kids play and your dog runs around. A pile of old timber full of nails isn't just ugly. It can be dangerous.

And it says a lot about how much a contractor respects your home.

What should happen

Old fence removed: taken away, not left on your nature strip.
Spoil dealt with: soil from post holes spread neatly or removed.
Rubbish gone: bags, offcuts, screws and packaging cleaned up.
Gardens respected: plants near the line protected where possible.

Before you sign a quote, check that removal and clean-up are included. If they're not mentioned, ask.
